2 · How it works, in plain words
At Gemini at Work 2026 (8 October 2026) Google announced the Gemini agent, which it calls a single, universal agent for work. Google says it answers questions, does knowledge work, creates images and media, writes and runs code, and works inline in Gmail, Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Chat and Calendar.
3 · Setup steps
How to do it yourself
Our suggested steps. The company didn't publish theirs.
- 1
Check with your Workspace admin that Gemini is turned on for your account.
- 2
Pick one repeated weekly task, e.g. a status summary from emails and a Sheet.
- 3
Paste the prompt below into Gemini and point it at the real files.
- 4
Check every number in the result against the source the first 3 times.
- 5
If it holds up, keep the prompt and run it every week.
4 · The prompt
The instructions to give the AI
Paste this into Google Gemini, swap the [brackets] for your details, and test it on a few real examples.
This is one part of the setup. It won't connect to your phone, inbox or other apps on its own; the steps above cover that.
Agent instructions (prompt)
You are my operations assistant at [company]. Every [Monday], make a one-page status summary for [team/project]. SOURCES - Emails from the last 7 days labelled [label] - The sheet [sheet name] OUTPUT - Doc titled 'Status - [date]' - Sections: Done, In progress, Blocked (with owner), Numbers (from the sheet only) - Max 300 words, plain English. RULES - Link the source email or cell for every claim. - If something is unclear, list it under 'Questions' instead of guessing. - Do not email anyone. I will share it myself.
[Highlighted] = replace with your own details before you run it.
What you should get back: A weekly summary doc drafted from your emails and files, ready for you to check and share.
