01What the job is

An AI website and SEO helper checks your site for problems (broken links, missing page titles and descriptions, slow pages, outdated prices or hours), drafts fixes, and writes new pages that answer the questions your customers actually search for. You review each change and publish it, or let it publish small fixes itself.

It suits any business whose website was built once and then forgotten: trades, clinics, restaurants, shops, consultants and local services. Most owners start with a monthly check-up and one new helpful page a month, not a flood of AI articles.

03What it costs

The basics are free or cheap. On their own pages: Ahrefs Webmaster Tools is free for site owners and checks your site for SEO problems; Semrush has a free plan (1 project); Rank Math PRO for WordPress is €7.99 a month billed yearly (renews at €8.99); Yoast SEO Premium is $118.80 a year.

Full SEO suites cost much more: Semrush's SEO plan is $117.33 a month billed yearly and Surfer starts at $49 a month billed yearly. A small local business rarely needs these at the start.

Writing and editing pages can be done with any AI chat assistant you already pay for, using the prompt below. Prices exclude VAT where the vendor says so.

05How to set it up

Setup time: A day to connect your site to a free checker and fix the first problems. After that, about an hour a week to review AI drafts.

  1. 1

Connect your site to Google Search Console and a free checker like Ahrefs Webmaster Tools. Note your current clicks and top problems.

  2. 2

Fix the basics first: correct hours, prices, phone number and service area on every page and on your Google Business Profile.

  3. 3

List 10 questions customers ask before they buy. Each one can become a page or a section.

  4. 4

Paste the prompt below into your AI assistant with one question, your notes and real examples from your work.

  5. 5

Edit the draft: add your photos, a real price range, and anything only you know. Then publish.

  6. 6

Once a month, ask the AI to review your top pages using the checker's report and suggest fixes. Approve each change.

  7. 7

Track clicks in Search Console over three months. Pages that get no clicks can be improved or merged.

06Risks, trust and security

  • Thin AI content

Search engines reward pages that help people. Mass-produced AI articles can hurt you. Publish fewer, better pages with real details.

  • Wrong facts

AI can invent prices, laws or claims. Check every fact before publishing, especially on health, legal or money topics.

  • Breaking the site

Never let an AI tool edit your live site without a backup. Make changes on a draft or staging copy first.

  • Copying others

Don't paste competitors' pages into AI to rewrite. Use your own experience and examples.

  • Access

Give tools the least access they need, use two-factor login, and remove access for tools you stop using.

07The prompt

Paste this into your tool's instructions box, then replace the highlighted parts.

08Questions owners ask

How much do AI website and SEO tools cost?+

On the vendors' own pricing pages (checked 16 Oct 2026): Ahrefs Webmaster Tools is free, Semrush has a free plan, Rank Math PRO is €7.99 a month billed yearly, Yoast SEO Premium is $118.80 a year, Semrush's SEO plan is $117.33 a month billed yearly and Surfer starts at $49 a month billed yearly.

Can AI write my website pages?+

It can draft them. Pages work better when you add real photos, prices and examples only you know, and check every fact.

Will AI content rank on Google?+

There's no guarantee. Helpful, accurate pages with real details have the best chance; mass-produced articles can hurt.

What results have others had?+

In our cases, one founder says a blog post went from about 2 hours to one click, and another says marketing work dropped from about 25 to 5 hours a week. These are time savings they reported themselves, not traffic results.

Do I need WordPress?+

No. Free checkers and an AI assistant work with any site. Rank Math and Yoast are WordPress plugins.
