One NZ lets customers switch mobile plans with an AI agent, no call needed

In plain words

Prepaid customers get a link, the agent checks their SIM, shows their usage next to seven new plans, answers questions and makes the switch. One NZ built it in five weeks.

What happened: Customers can now switch plans on their own instead of calling. It was built in 5 weeks.

How to do it yourself

Our suggested steps. The company didn't publish theirs.

  1. 1

List your current plans/products and which customers should move to which.

  2. 2

Text or email customers a personal link to a chat page.

  3. 3

Build a Voiceflow agent that looks up the customer (via Zapier/Airtable), shows current vs new options, and answers questions using the prompt below.

  4. 4

When the customer picks, the agent writes the change to Airtable for your team to apply.

  5. 5

Measure: % who switched without calling you.

The instructions to give the AI

Paste this into Intercom Fin (the free plan is fine), swap the [brackets] for your details, and test it on a few real examples.

This is one part of the setup. It won't connect to your phone, inbox or other apps on its own; the steps above cover that.

Agent instructions (prompt)

You help existing customers of [business] choose a new plan. Customer details: [current plan, usage, balance]. Options:
[paste plans]
1) Show their current plan in one line, 2) recommend the best 2 options for their usage and explain why in plain English, 3) answer questions only from the plan info, 4) when they choose, confirm the plan name and start date and output CHANGE: <plan>. Never invent prices.

[Highlighted] = replace with your own details before you run it.

What you should get back: "You pay $65 for 40GB but use ~12GB. The $45 plan covers you and saves $240 a year. Switch?"
